God is our loving creator who made us and deserves our honour and obedience. (Creation)

Our Labour of Love
Our essential work at HTK is to speak the truth in love, revealed in the Bible about God, humanity and our world, centred on the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. We focus on speaking the truth in love to three groups of people:

The ministry to all of these groups is connected and will only be truly fruitful when it’s conducted from the Bible, in dependence on God through prayer and enacted in Christ-like love.

Meet the people serving you at HTK
Senior Pastor
Dave Doran
Dave’s married to Huong and they have four kids. He’s a die-hard Rabbitohs fan and cricket tragic, but his biggest passion by far is spreading the knowledge of Jesus. Before studying at Moore Theological College, Dave completed a PhD at UNSW, so he has a longstanding connection with the area. He sets our vision and leads us as we seek to share the great news of Jesus with Kingsford, Daceyville and beyond.
Children’s & Families Pastor
Kate Nicol
Kate’s our Children’s Ministry Worker and has studied at Moore Theological College. She’s married to Hamish and they have two children. Kate also loves gardening and reading, whenever she has a spare moment, but her passion is teaching kids and families about Jesus and helping them grow to love and serve him.
Youth Minister
Andrew Barich
Andrew came to trust Jesus through his high school Christian group. He now leads HTK youth, helping them to speak the truth in love to mature one another and to share the good news of Jesus with their friends. He’s married to Jo and spends his week studying at Moore Theological College. When he isn’t studying, Andrew loves hanging out with friends over coffee and chatting about life, the Bible and Jesus.
Student Minister
Jo Barich
Jo is married to Andrew and one of the student ministers at HTK. She’s currently studying at Moore Theological College to be equipped to share Jesus wherever they both end up. Jo loves a coffee and sweet treats, especially with friends! She will be helping with our Sunday Morning Youth group and 5pm congregation.
Student Minister
David Twohill
David is married to Karyn and has one child. He is one of our Student Ministers while studying full-time at Moore Theological College. David enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, action-packed books and movies, and loves a good yarn, particularly if it's about Jesus!
Student Minister
Gab Aravena
Gab (or Gabriel) is serving at HTK while studying at Moore Theological College for full-time gospel ministry. He’s married to Naomi and has a little boy. He loves introducing people to Jesus and has a passion for anything tech related, having previously worked as a web developer. When he’s not doing all that, he enjoys a good read.
Global Mission Team Leader
Paul King
After a long-term mission in France speaking to university students about the big questions of life, Paul now prays for, encourages and sends people to speak of Jesus, as he heads up the Global Mission Team. He’s married to Sandra, and they have three adult children. He enjoys hanging out with friends and family, running and theatre.

Part Time - 3 days per week
We are looking for someone to carry on the work of growing a thriving Children’s ministry to raise the next generation for Christ. HTK is a church of three congregations seeking to speak the truth in love to save and mature people in Christ. We need a leader passionate about teaching God’s word to little ones, skilled in training young leaders and eager to serve in a staff team committed to sound doctrine and Christ-like love.
To Apply:
This is a part-time position (3 days per week). The successful applicant will work closely with the Senior Pastor and ministry team while taking primary responsibility for children's ministry.
Remuneration will be provided in accordance with the Sydney Anglican Diocese remuneration guidelines, taking into account qualifications and experience.

Children's and Families Minister
Key Responsibilities

Responsibility for running children’s Sunday 10am morning church program (Preschool to Year 5)

Programming, preparing and training volunteers for weekly Family Talk at 10am service
-
Recruiting volunteer leaders for children’s program
-
Membership in pastoral staff team, including weekly meetings and contributing to overall church planning and strategy
-
Training, supporting and mentoring volunteer leaders
-
Promoting parental leadership in discipling children and resources for this
-
Strategic planning and implementation of evangelistic events for children (eg Pupil free day kids club; Christmas events)
-
Coordination of occasional events aimed at connecting families and deepening their fellowship in the church (eg Sunday picnics; children’s program at church weekends away)
-
In partnership with the Safe Ministry Representative, ensuring compliance and implementation of policies and procedures
-
SRE coordination and teaching (one local primary school, four classes)
-
Committed participation and contribution as possible to our 5pm congregation
Essential requirements

A deep thankfulness and joy in Christ that manifests the fruit of the Spirit and passion to see God’s church grow

A love of children and conviction about their need to be discipled in Christ

Reformed evangelical convictions

A theological diploma or degree (or working towards one)

Demonstrated ability to teach the Bible faithfully, clearly, and practically to children

Experience training and pastoring volunteer ministry teams

Personal Safe Ministry requirements up to date

Safe Ministry
We all have a part to play in keeping vulnerable people safe
At HTK we’re dedicated to caring for everyone, especially our most vulnerable people. That’s why we have adopted the Anglican Churches Guidelines for Safe Ministry and the Child Safe Standards. In accordance with these guidelines our church is committed to its three principles
(i) Safe Environment;
(ii) Best Practice; and
(iii) Appropriate Leadership.
These principles are best maintained when everyone is supporting a safe physical, emotional and spiritual environment; communicating and engaging in best practice; and relating to children, youth and other vulnerable people in safe and appropriate ways.
What this looks like at HTK
Safe Environment
We have a Parish Council which has responsibility for the safe upkeep of our physical facilities and compliance with Diocesan Safe Ministry Standards. As well as this, all ministry leaders and our Safe Ministry Representative are required to regularly assess the safety of the immediate environment and risks posed by any church activities. If you have any safety concerns about our property or ministry procedures, please email office@htk.church and your concerns will be forwarded to the appropriate person.
Best Practice
As we teach the Bible and disciple children, youth and adults, we aim to engage with best practice by following Child Safe Standards, Safe Ministry Guidelines and by making any adjustments needed to support families and individuals.
