What we Believe

Jesus’ message of life and hope is great news for Kingsford, Daceyville and beyond!

Group pic What we believe.jpg

Here is the great news we share and the gospel we stand on:

  • God is our loving creator who made us and deserves our honour and obedience. (Creation)

  • Tragically we have all rejected God and tried to run life ourselves. (Sin)

  • Our rejection of God incurs His just anger and His punishment resulting in death and judgement. (Judgement)

  • Because of His great love for us, God sent His Son Jesus into the world. Jesus is the perfect substitute who dies in our place to take the judgement we deserve so we could be forgiven for our rejection of God. (Atonement)

  • God raised Jesus to life again in his resurrection and Jesus ascended to rule with God now in heaven. Jesus has now conquered death, now gives the Holy Spirit and will return to judge. (Resurrection)

  • Every person is now faced with a choice: (i) Keep rejecting God and face death and judgement with no hope; or (ii) Thank God for sending Jesus, trust in Him as your Saviour and turn to Him as your Lord. Begin a new life with the gift of the Holy Spirit, knowing God as your Father, and following Jesus as your Lord, guaranteed of life in God’s everlasting new creation after the second coming of Christ. (Regeneration)

Vision 2030

Vision 2030.
We aim to grow Christ’s church here and in all the world

We aim to be a church overflowing with God’s grace to grow Christ’s church here and beyond. Under God these are the key goals we work towards, culminating in sending a group to plant or repot elsewhere in 2030.

  • Big on biblical truth & Christ-like love

  • Raising up Christians to self-sacrificially serve

  • Regularly seeing people of all ages become Christians

  • Engaged in several ‘difference making’ partnerships with external gospel ministries

  • Running thriving children’s and youth ministries

  • Running an established traineeship program

  • In position to plant or repot a church somewhere in Sydney

Labour of Love

Our Labour of Love

Our essential work at HTK is to speak the truth in love, revealed in the Bible about God, humanity and our world, centred on the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. We focus on speaking the truth in love to three groups of people:

  1. Each other - within HTK

  2. The next generation - children and youth

  3. Neighbours - who don’t yet believe in Jesus

The ministry to all of these groups is connected and will only be truly fruitful when it’s conducted from the Bible, in dependence on God through prayer and enacted in Christ-like love.

“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”

Ephesians 4:15 (New International Version)

Safe Ministry

Safe Ministry

We all have a part to play in keeping vulnerable people safe

At HTK we’re dedicated to caring for everyone, especially our most vulnerable people. That’s why we have adopted the Anglican Churches Guidelines for Safe Ministry and the Child Safe Standards. In accordance with these guidelines our church is committed to its three principles

(i) Safe Environment;

(ii) Best Practice; and

(iii) Appropriate Leadership.

These principles are best maintained when everyone is supporting a safe physical, emotional and spiritual environment; communicating and engaging in best practice; and relating to children, youth and other vulnerable people in safe and appropriate ways.

What this looks like at HTK

Safe Environment

We have a Parish Council which has responsibility for the safe upkeep of our physical facilities and compliance with Diocesan Safe Ministry Standards.  As well as this, all ministry leaders and our Safe Ministry Representative are required to regularly assess the safety of the immediate environment and risks posed by any church activities. If you have any safety concerns about our property or ministry procedures, please email office@htk.church and your concerns will be forwarded to the appropriate person.

Best Practice

As we teach the Bible and disciple children, youth and adults, we aim to engage with best practice by following Child Safe Standards, Safe Ministry Guidelines and by making any adjustments needed to support families and individuals.

Appropriate Leaders

All our leaders for Children and Youth are assessed for their suitability and are Safe Ministry trained. They also receive ongoing training on how to conduct themselves as ministry leaders. If you have any concerns about their conduct please speak to the ministry leader in charge.
